Born in Turin in 1976 as a publishing house specialized in music, EDT is currently involved in distinct areas of publishing: music, varied, kids and food. Since the early nineties it translates and publishes in Italian the Lonely Planet guides, market leader and reference for independent travelers. In the catalog, we can count about 200 titles.
To launch the Italian version of the collection guide "Mondo", 221 countries with 1599 destinations, 700 photographs and 228 maps, Lonely Planet Italy entrusts sixeleven the construction site of the photo competition "Mondo – Passione senza confini” (concorso.lonelyplanetitalia.it). The contest counts on Cathay Pacific Airways as a partner, which is giving away tickets for the top four, and Cortona on the Move, the photography festival on the road that will allow the fifth and sixth to follow their seminars during the days of the event.
A copy of the guide is the reward for those who will square from seventh to tenth place. Users who wish to participate must register in lonelyplanetitalia.it and send their best shots of the travel. The gallery with photographs of the participants are visible to all and sharable on social networks, and a jury will decide who’ll be rewarded: it is composed of EDT representatives, Lonely Planet, Cortona on the Move and Radio Capital, media partner of the initiative.
The competition is made in collaboration with some of the major players in the Italian and international tourism, like Tourism Malaysia Italia, Australia.com and the portal Puglia Promotion. The website was built on frameworks Laravel: a young and groundbreaking development tool that is collecting many positive opinions and followers by the PHP community for its elegance and cleanliness in writing code. The application interfaces with the central database of lonelyplanetitalia.it through dialogues via REST webservices especially made available by the client.
The communication related to the travel universe is one of the cornerstones of the current activity of sixeleven. Adding an historical name like Lonely Planet to the list of our customers is of course a source of pride and satisfaction.
