Protected area established by the State and first Italian national park, the Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso is a body aimed at the conservation of the ecosystems of the valleys surrounding the Gran Paradiso massif. 90 years of passion for nature, celebrated with events and activities throughout 2012.
A massive project which brought to light a multilingual site, developed on the open source Drupal CMS platform, kept us busy on several fronts: concept development, content and implementation of the reorganization of the layout.
Our contribution was inspired by the multiple purposes Entity: the management and protection of the protected area, the maintenance of the biodiversity of the area and its landscape, scientific research, environmental education, development and the promotion of sustainable tourism. Wealth of content, therefore, but also the choice to leave room for suggestions, with background photos that tell of landscapes and animals, not to forget that the experience of the park is first of all emotional, and only the awareness of the value and beauty of the park can inspire respect and protection.
The project is constantly evolving and has also engaged in the important task of scanning the photographic history of the park, collected in the "Fototeca" section. Historical memory, but also an interactive opportunity, allowing users to actively participate by uploading their best shots.
The project also defined an online presence for the park, initiating the official Facebook page, Twitter feeds and YouTube channel.
Following the excellent results obtained with the Gran Paradiso site, marked by some international galleries of web design, the project has been included in the Parks 2011 initiative for celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
