The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security
The World Food Programme, in order to promote its own technological solutions during the recent World Humanitarian Summit, asked sixeleven to solve a particular need in a very short time: to realize a Digital Publication, characterized by interactions and animations, that was accessible both through a set of offline tablet available at the WFP stand at the conference, or through a QR code printed on flyers that should have led to an online version optimized for mobiles and any other device.
The solution proposed by sixeleven has resulted in a unique product in responsive HTML that was then distributed on tablets and on the environment hosting of WFP. Since the tablets could not have internet access, the Digital Publication needed to reside locally on devices, as well as the video files included. The deployment was then controlled remotely through an application that could monitor and push the updated content when the device were connected to the Internet. The online version has been published on the Official CDN of WFP, with an eye to the optimizations in terms of performance and usability independently from the device.
The animations have been realized through framwork GSAP that, thanks to its high compatibility, has allowed us to obtain brilliant cross-browser results.
The online version is available at wfp.org/solutions.
